Call for Expressions of Interest

Call
We would like to invite expressions of interest for a one-day event on Brain Computer Interfaces – strategic planning for the UK BCI community - to be hosted by School of Systems Engineering, University of Reading.
Sponsored by: University of Reading and EPSRC Bridging the Gaps: Complex Cognitive Sciences
The event will be held at the University of Reading’s InnovationWorks (http://www.innovationworks.reading.ac.uk/), a custom-built facility designed for stimulating creativity in a relaxed and informal setting away from the traditional work environment. This should be a fun day, providing the opportunity to exchange ideas and shape future activities.
Registration will open at 9:30am for a 10:00 start. We anticipate wrapping up about 4pm, and if people are free, to continue discussions informally over drinks at a nearby pub.
There is no charge for attendance, but places are limited.
Objectives
The objectives for the day will focus around planning future activities for the UK BCI community (versus, for example, presenting research findings or specifically developing a collaborative research proposal). We are aiming to:
- Reflect and review on the state of BCI activities in the UK, including the international context
- Identify what future events/activities would be beneficial
- Discuss funding requirements and potential sources
- Identify volunteers who are willing to champion particular events
Venue
Maps of the University of Reading campus can be downloaded here and information about local hotels around Reading can be found here. Additionally University of Reading's hotel, Black Horse House, can be booked for the event. See here for the details.
